Lola Ayisha

Ogbara

Through sculpture, installations, and sonic experiments, Lola Ayisha Ogbara explores haptic (sub)conscious frameworks using the body’s form, as well as the absence of the body, to contemplate the complexities of emotion, movement, looking, seeing, labor, time, and space. Ogbara is committed to enriching the contemporary art landscape, striving to create meaningful connections and facilitating transformative introspection through the power of art.

Ogbara is a Nigerian American conceptual artist and curator from Chicago, Illinois. She earned a BA from Columbia College Chicago and an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis. Ogbara has exhibited in art spaces including The Luminary, Kemper Museum, Mindy Solomon Gallery, and Elmhurst Art Museum. She has also received exhibitions, residencies, fellowships, and awards from Alfred University, MASS MoCA, the University of Chicago, the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and other institutions.
